My Pic if anyone's interested
Hi,
I had my surgery 9 months ago and am just now getting an avatar up. Things are going well for me. I am still losing weight at a steady pace, about 5 lbs. per month. I've spent a fortune on clothes this year. I've gone from a size 22 (probably bigger but I would only buy liz claiborne cause I could fit in a 22) to a 12 in most ladies clothes. I am a 5th grade language arts/history teacher in TX. I have four sons and one husband that I've been with for 23 years. I've had very few complications. I take vista vitamins (one pouch) a day and it has helped tremendously with my hair loss. I drink an Adkins shake for breakfast almost every day. I drink whey protein mixed in with strawberry tangerine Chrystal light every single night. I love my protein drink and look forward to it. In between I snack on nuts and dried fruit. I eat meals as I can. I still like soup a lot. I can eat meat and chicken though and I try to do so at least once a day.
My reason for having the surgery was bad knees. My knees are still bad, but they don't hurt all the time like they use to. The pain was so bad that I was willing to risk my life to make it better. I will eventually have them replaced but at 48, the doctors wanted me to wait as long as I can. Having this surgery was the second hardest thing I've ever done. But after the first three months, it got a lot easier.
At nine months out I still can't eat much at a meal. I don't find myself eating more and more the further out I get and to me that's a good thing. I hope I never do. I can eat sweeets, though, and I do eat them, just not in quantity. I get dumping when the grams of sugar get above 28 or so. I've had a beer and a glass of wine occasionally, but it's not a big thing to me. I miss my margaritas though. I figure they are too sugary to try.
I continue to go to support group meetings once a month, but they are nothing like the support you guys give to each other. There are so many people posting here that you can almost always find someone who's been through what you're going through.
Thanks for letting this Texas woman care and share with you California Girls.
