Dale,
I think I remember a time when you were concerned about how far you were below goal.Maybe your body is now trying to find a weight closer to what your goal originaly was.
When I got about 18 mos out is when I started cycling and found that I was consuming more than I was before my one year mark. But I also know that my activity level increased greatly and has continued too as I have really increased my training. So it would make sense that my need for increased calorie consumption is natural. On my one double century ride last year I burned 10,000+ calories and average training ride is about 2500-3000.I too drink at meals but I also spread my meals to 5 a day.
The other thing is that at some point after surgery your body does not have the excess fat to feed off of and your body is going to ask for energy to burn and at that point you may just start eating a little more.I also beleive that if you put your body under extreme physical stress from exercise that the type of energy it craves it adapts to accept it even though in theory you shouldnt be able to consume it without some kind of gastric problem.
I am glad that you are pleased with how you are changing and hope that all continues to go well.
