I drove myself to the hospital because my mom was coming from North Carolina so she met met there. And to be suprised I was not the least bit nervous. Even when I got upstairs and checked in, I started to get nervous, but not the break down nervous that you feel when overwhelmed. The nurse called me back and then that is when everything started. I got to put on my lovely gown, got my I.V. started and still was not that nervous. I was not crying or anything but just regular jitters.

My doctor came in and talked to me and wanted to know if I had any questions and I was like no, I was just ready to go and get it over with. The anestheslogist(sp) came and asked some questions and told me they would be coming to get me soon. By then my mother showed up and I think that she was more nervous than I was. Then it was time for me to go back and I kissed her and told her that I would see her in a few. I remember getting to the OR room, and being put on the table and being strapped down, and those compression thingys being put on my legs and then they gave me some sleepy time meds through the mask and the next thing I remember is being in some pain and moaning and being told to take deep breaths that everything was over.

I was then wheeled to my room and my mom was waiting for me there. EVerything was in a fog and I was not much company..lol, so she left and told me that she would be back the next day and I continued to sleep until the nurses woke me up to tell me it was time to walk. Well did I ever amaze them, I got up and walked that hall like it was nothing and they were like wow you are doing great for just having surgery this morning! I went bacl to bed and then the next morning my doctor came to see me.

By then, I was up and getting around and sitting up and he was like wow, you don't even act like u have had surgery. He told me my surgery went perfect, there were no problems, he could not have asked for a more perfect one and that is the kind that drs look forward to doing. I was able to have mine done Lap so that made it even better. He kept commenting on how good I looked and told me that he would see me in the morning. Throughout the day, I slept, watched t.v. and then got up and walked around and I could hear the nurses say that she looks so good to have just had surgery. When it came to discharge day, my doctor came in and I had on my pink jammies, I got tired of that awful gown and he said gee u look even better and I love the pink. He said he would have discharged me the day before but wanted me to stay in just in case anything happened which of course it didn't. The only pain that I had was gas pain and boy was that annoying. I was so glad when I got home and was able to get me some gas meds...lol!!! Then I was a happy camper!!

I am 8 days post op and have not had one problem. I tolerate all my liquids well and I am healing just nicely I think. My incisions and JP tube hole has healed up and I am getting around like I have not even had surgery and sometimes I don't feel like it. Now, there are times when I get a little winded and then I know it is time for me to take a break but other than that, yall I am doing wonderful and I have one person to thank for that. Well actually two:

My Lord and Savior Jesus Christ for being with me and my surgical team and He continues to be with me during my recovery period. The day before surgery I became saved and joind the church that I had been attending. i love it there. I will be getting Baptized in March. And then attending classes to become an official member of the church. He has been with me since my accident and continues to Bless me and my family and I give him all the Glory and the Praise, Thank you Jesus!

Second, I would like to thank my surgeon and surgical team for taking such good care of me while I was in the hospital and also the nursing staff. I had the best nurses ever and I did not want for nothing!!! They took good care of me.

Well that is the beginning of my journey and I am sure there is more to come. As far as weight loss, when I went for my seminar, I weighed 304, then I gained up to 311 and now a scale a snuck and got on said 295, not sure if it was right or not but if it was then I have lost a total of 19lbs already!!! But I will find out for sure when I go for my 2 week check up on the 22nd!!

Just wanted to let you know what was going on and I am sorry that this is so long, but I am so happy and just wanted to share this with you!!!

Everyone Be Blessed and I will posting more often as questions start to form in my head about different things! Thanks for all the thoughts and prayers. There is power in prayer!!

Hugs,

Kennie
