I am on a liquid diet effective 1/18/06 until surgery with will hopefully be 3/7 if I can loose the 30 pounds my doc wants me to loose - if not it will be until 3/17. I am doing Optifast (aka Optifamine) until surgery. It is 800 calories a day and all of the RDA's requirements for vitamins and minerals.
He said that it reduces the fattiness of the liver, thus making it a safer operation. He also said that losing the fat in the pannus region (the fatty area just below my breasts and down to the pubic line) makes for easer slicing through it, and he said that with this phase I would make that area less dense, and easier for losing after surgery...
