Default Sorry...

I was told to do it too and wasn't looking forward to it. I had actually lost some weight prior to surgery but quit smoking. When I went in for pre-op, my doctor smiled and said he could tell i had quit smoking - i hadn't said a thing - he said, "You've gained 7 pounds." And we just howled. i told him i was putting alot in my mouth but would try my best and did the liquids (600 calories a day!) for the three days prior to my surgery. I am four days out and still doing clear liquids.

The pre-op liquids are for shrinking your liver quickly so that it won't be in the way of the surgeons and a wuick weight loss to loosen up the abdominal area prior to surgery. No cleansing or enema - your body just does that on its own. Hope this helps and good louck in the coming weeks!
