Some surgeons will have you do it depending on your weight at your consult. By losing 10% of your body weight prior to surgery you "de-fat" your organs making it safer during surgery, thats why they want you to do it. Also, some do have the fram of mind to have you do it to measure how determined you are at following a "healthier" diet to see how committed you are to WLS. But if she or anyone successfully loses the weight the surgeon requires preoperativley its not a trick to trick you out of WLS by the insurance carrier... once you have been approved they dont look back...... I just dont want anyone freaked out is all
