I'm pretty sure that if your weight has caused the kidney failure, it would be considered a co-morbidity. However, if say you had diabetes caused by your weight and the diabetes was causing your kidney failure, the co-morbidity would be the diabetes.

I have done some research on the subject as I became a prolific kidney stone producer post-op. You'll need to discuss WLS with your urologist/nephrologist as there can be some issues. Rapid weight loss creates a lot of uric acid that can be a problem, and protein shakes drop a lot of amino acids into your system and that can tax your kidneys. HTH
