Yeah I am going to have to agree with Kelly here but your surgeon is woefully misinformed. Unfortunately there are many surgeons who are not familiar with the differences in proteins and vitamins etc for post WLS patients. Those protein shots have come to be marketed to WLS surgery patients but were originally developed for body builders to have something portable and quick to use while working out.

I am not usually one to say go against what your surgeon tells you. But on this one I am afraid I feel like I have to. You can follow your surgeon on this one, but I am sure if you posted the question to our own Dr Callery he will also tell you that not all proteins are the same. You would see some issues crop up from protein deficiency if you were to use those collagen based proteins.

There are juice flavored ones that are clear that are whey isolate. Nectar is one and the Isopure drinks are another that comes to mind. I understand that taste is important and lord knows I have doctored mine to make them as pleasant as I can, but first and foremost is the quality of my health and what goes into my body.
