I just read through some information regarding cheese in the Washing Post (which I receive as a regular daily email) and found the following information about cottage cheese. I thought I'd post it here for those of you who are C.C lovers:-
"Cottage cheese has much less calcium (68 milligrams per 1/2 cup) per serving than hard cheeses such as cheddar (204 mg per 1 ounce); that's because at least half the calcium is drained when the whey is removed. Look for varieties fortified with the important bone-building mineral."
