I have researched it and found that because that part of the intestine they remove is the main culprit in absorbing insulin.. thats why you are rid of PCOS and diabetes shortly after surgery. I dont believe the actual weight loss did it.. but the re-routing. I never had periods.. maybe once a year if that.. facial hair, infertility plagued my life. 3 weeks after RNY surgery i got my first non forced period in over a year. Then it occured.. 4 weeks later.. whooo hoo.. then again.. so that kept going on and on. I am now almost 10 months out 10/13.. and I am not only cured of my PCOS symptoms but I am also 4 weeks pregnant. What can i say about RNY except it has saved my life and given me a new one!

I had to smile when I read this post. I'm so happy for you. If your right about the re-routing - as oppose to weight loss, then VSG may not have the same results. A lack of knowledge about my PCOS led to me being childless - ( I have 2 step daughters) I have spent most of my life feeling less of a women. My greatest desire was to have my own family. I'm now past it, just turned 50 so no hopes of conceiving there.
I remember when I was under the fertility clinic about 16 years ago, I tried for IVF OMG, I nearly died. The doctor then told me just lose weight. After the terrible side efferts of undergoing the drug regime for IVF - I had to be in the small percent that had an adverse reaction. My husband would not let me try again. It was too stressful for him.
Knowledge is power.. It could have made all the difference to my life.
