Welcome Samantha...I'm sure you'll find a lot of help here while you start your journey toward better health. There are a lot of well-informed and caring people here.
I can relate to part of your story in that I too have serious spinal issues. The best thing I did for my body was permanently losing weight via WLS. I'd do it again in a heartbeat. Obviously a healthy weight won't cure your spine, but it WILL help you manage your pain. The difference is amazing.
