Hi Meghan- Don't worry too much if you're a little shy on the protein as I'm assuming the mushy phase won't last long and once you're on solids it's easy. Any of the canned meats work well (tuna as mentioned, salmon, chicken). I also ate the refried beans with a little cheese and salsa ontop. I used a lot of any greek yogurt with some SF preseves ontop. I NEVER had/have to have a protein shake, although I do following a fill sometimes (with lots of fruit/milk), but very few protein shakes period. I drank lots of skim milk with SF chocolate syrup (I hate milk but it helps with the protein). My doc also let us eat 6 smaller meals a day at this point so it's easier to get the numbers up.
What's funny is that about the time you figure out the high protein mushies is when they'll move you on to the solids and then these are exactly the foods you shouldn't eat with the band (sliders). Hang in there, the lifetime diet is coming soon! -BG
