Well, obviously we got together 14 weeks ago
As far as permanently. . .we've got one last hurdle with immigration. They want something stating the custody arrangement with my oldest child. I sent what they originally asked for...which was a notarized letter from her father, giving his permission for our daughter to become a permanent resident. If they want something official regarding custody....well I'm sorry but I can't do that.
Her father and I were never married. We split up while I was pregnant with her. He moved out of state when she was 5, and didn't see her again for almost 9 years. Custody laws vary per state, but I believe Oklahoma's basic custody for unwed parents is sole custody to the mother, unless the father objects. He doesn't object. So, if they push the issue, I'll have to write a letter explaining this, as well as print something out regarding basic custody laws for this state. It was this same issue that got our visitor permit extension request denied.
The good news is, I know all this stuff for a fact because I spoke with someone at the Canada Immigration Centre today. So....right now it looks like they're just waiting for the letter I sent already. I sent it a few weeks ago, so they should have it by now, but the guy said sometimes it takes a month-ish for them to go through all the mail they get.
I'm hoping it's soon. I so do not want to have this baby in Oklahoma.
