Welcome to Thinner Time, Liz.

On July 3, 1994, I went to bed a smoker and woke up a non-smoker. No patches or help other than me and my husband, who quit the same day, too. After 18 years of smoking, elevating to 2-3 packs a day, I've been smoke free ever since.

Focus on the prize. YOU KNOW that WLS surgery will help you lose weight if that's your prize, but you have to do certain things to get there. If the ultimate prize is also your health, where WLS will certainly help, quitting smoking will by far more beneficial. Having a focus on WLS can help the habit go away.

My focus was I was pregnant. My prize was my bouncing baby boy.

Nearly 16 TEN pound bowling balls down... OMG, let me pinch myself!

I don't want to know how much I have left to lose -- I find it encouraging to see how far I've come!
