Prior to surgery, I had numbness in my arms and hands when sleeping. During the day, when walking my lower legs would get constricted and cut off circulation from about mid-calf down into my feet. Not sure if any of this is the same as your hubby's or if his is constant...but since having the surgery and loosing the weight, I no longer have these problems.

I still have a lump along the side of my calf, down toward my ankle on the right side - which is the spot that used to get stiff and constrict badly causing my foot to go numb, but it doesn't act up any more. I've had a doc look at it, but they didn't have anything to say about it. Just thought it was a little oddity.

It sounds like your husband does have some co-morbidites that are typically required as precursors to having the surgery (and insurance companies covering some of the cost), so if it's something you're looking into, it may be an option for him. Going to your GP is the best first step to the process. They may be able to recommend a Gastric Bypass or Banding center. Be sure to do plenty of research for your area. Finding a program that is all inclusive with a nutritionist, psychologist, physical therapist, surgeon, and a nurse practitioner is the best route. Those that only have a surgeon involved tend to have a lower success rate.

I gotta run - but keep us posted, K?
