First CONGRATULATIONS!!!! How exciting 
When I have had outpatient surgery I went in that morning, had the surgery, then when they determined I was well enough, I went home. I think it depends on what time your surgery is and your physical progress whether you stay overnight or not. Also, I assume that Lap band recipients are most likely released sooner than bypass.
