Default One Week...Under the belt, so to speak

I can't believe it's only been a week since I had the surgery. I feels like much more time.

Learning to eat differently is clearly my new challange. Just call me Mr. MOTO for that one (Master Of The Obvious.)

Of course, by differently, I mean more than just food choices. I was off last week, so today was my first day back at work and back into a hectic environment and too much to do and not enough time. Today, I forgot to eat. Now, that's a first.

I had some yogurt for breakfast and before I new it, 4pm had come around. I ran out of work early today because I was planning a birthday evening with my wife. After some running around for last minute gifts and a small family celebration, we headed out. We got to our favorite sushi place at 7pm and I still hadn't eaten anything since breakfast and now I suddenly realized what bad shape I was in.

I stood there as we waited for a table wondering if I would pass out. Suddenly my body wasn't just hungry, but my blood sugar was very low and I was running on fumes. I ordered a salad as you don't have many options for something quick at this place we love and that salad quickly put my system back in check. Unfortunately, by the time the sushi arrived, I could only have one piece before I was full.

It was nice to be full, but it sucked to not be able to enjoy the meal with my wife. I felt so foolish for wasting my stomach capacity on salad when I could have really used the protein from the fish. If I would have just taken a minute to eat earlier, it could have been a much better dinner experience

It's clear that the old way of doing things is going to get me into a lot of trouble if I keep them up. I'm losing weight quickly, but I'm being pretty stupid about it if today is any measure.

I'm looking forward to a better week at work with more time for eating. Someone here mentioned that I might need to schedule my small meals on my blackberry as simply a reminder. That once sounded pathetic, but now sounds needed in my case.

I hope I do a better job tomorrow!
