Default 2 Month Update & Pictures

I noticed differences mostly in my face. But at 2 months I thought I would be further along then I am…don’t we all! I read the losses of some people and think..boy what am I doing wrong.

So at 2 months …..*Music*Drum Roll*
Started day of surgery at 306 lbs.
As of this morning I’m at 268 lbs.
Down 38 lbs.
I was hoping for 40..20 lbs a month…but at 38 that’s 4.75 lbs per week…don’t think I could ask for more.

What’s changed:
Well My brain is finally catching up with the surgery. I no longer want to make sweet love to a pizza when it rolls out of our oven (fold it in half it can look tempting). Sugary snacks….Hey give me some water or Crystal Light please and I’ll shut by stomach down which in turn will shut my brain down a wee bit.

Learning how to re-eat has been challenging, especially working the crazy schedule I do. I’m one of the blessed ones that gets to work 2 full time jobs, one during the day at the bank helping Senior Citizens and at nights and weekends running my Sport Clips Franchises. Yes there are still capitalists out there and yes we do employ people. But that schedule makes it hard to fit in food and drink.

So, my secrets.

Water bottles. 6 of em a day, to get in my protein I’m up to between 90 to 100 grams a day.

• All I eat: Chicken, Tilapia, Shrimp (Lots of it, and not cheap up here in Wisconsin), Eggs and these little tiny boxes of chicken salad and crackers they sell at a food store called Aldi.

• Drink: I found it on this web site: PROFECT! THANK YOU to whoever posted about this stuff! 25 grams of protein in a vial that you can do in 2 sips. Doesn’t taste the best, not the worst but 25 grams of protein in 100 calories! Awesome. UNJURY! Once again..Whoever posted this THANK YOU! A scoop packs 20 grams of protein…I wasn’t doo all too well with milk and with whey protein from health stores and wal mart. This stuff is ISOLATE protein and goes down so much easier! Put with Crystal light or with milk. Works great.

Do a Scoop of UNJURY a Day, Do a Vial of Profect a day combined would be 200 calories but packs an amazing 45 grams of protein..and NOTHING unneeded, sugar alcohols or anything funny. Pure protein.

Before I found these combinations I was one cranky guy at times.. just not much energy. As I work out more I needed Easy to burn Protein fuel. Can’t get much Easier then PROFECT and UNJURY.

I still find I cannot eat more than 4 oz’s of food at a serving ..However tonight I did eat a piece of 6 oz tilapia fresh off the grill right after biking 15 miles. No problems keeping it down.

I have not dumped yet…of course I have put NOTHING in my mouth with any real sugar or any taboo items at parties. I have not thrown up yet. I’m scared of overeating and getting that feeling, so at 4 oz’s or less I feel myself becoming full and I just quit.

I typically have not been following the weight (pun intended) 30 minutes before fluids. More like 15 minutes after I eat.
Snack for me. Peanuts in a shell takes time to crack em and eat em, and fudgesicles.

*Poop department. Take Activa a few times a week..but usually doesn’t get the stool a moving..so Milk of Magnesia twice a week has been helping. At times like that bathroom scene out of dumb and dumber, ceramic sweet bliss.

Exercise: I know I only have a good 6-9 months to lose as much as possible. Stepping up my exercise, but between job #1, Job #2, playing and running with the 3 kids not as much time as I’d like. I would say on average I get in 45 minutes to 1 hour 5 times per week.

I’m all of those 5 days doing aerobic exercise. Running is up to 45 minutes to an hour, run walk run walk, Eliptical is up to 45 minutes getting a great sweat, biking I’m up to an hour at times and gone as far as 20 miles.

Weight lifting. I have man boobs from Lymes Disease, surgeries & Steroids that were administered to keep me alive at 16. I know as I get smaller I probably will continue to have man boobs. So 3 times per week I am weight lifting 30-45 minutes. Upper chest, Arms, Upper back, Upper side Core muscles Stomach Crunchers and leg lifts. I want my man boobs to be as small as they can as I get smaller,,but most likely will require surgery. I know that your core muscles need to be strong. So lot of ab work, Straight Leg Lifts and abs… in the next month I want to ad Push Ups.

So, I keep working at it. So nervous that I will plateu as I have worked out a lot in the past..and seen NO weight loss and many times have gained weight.
So I want to keep my muscle mass up. I know I could continue to lose weight without exercise..but I’d be a skinnier fat person. Smaller, but most of my weight loss would be muscle and the fat would remain a bit more. Exercise and weight lifting I think will keep me a bigger guy, but also more muscle in stead of fat.

Goals I’m hoping to achieve by end of Month 3

Weight: 250…can I lose 18 in a month? Doubtful..but we shall see

Protein: Up to 110 grams a day

Liquid up to 110 oz’s a day

Exercise: Hope to be up to regularly 25 miles biking, I want to get to 3.1 miles running and will start open lake swimming long distance. I have 4 lakes within 3 minutes of my home.

Goal for Early July then to do my first Sprint Triathlon.
So for now, baby step, keep eating right, drinking right and not getting so busy I just grab food and eat on the run.

When I got to this point 5 years ago on my own without WLS and people started to comment that I was looking better I started to slip…oh this piece of cake won’t hurt me, oh, why not a small McDonalds Shake. Not this time! A $34,000 surgery, changing my eating habits and having my stomach cut open will continue to be enough work that I will not sabotage myself.

I have included my pictures showing the difference from day one after surgery to 8 weeks after surgery. What a difference in my face.

To all of you on your journey, continued success.
