Hi Patty cake,

Sorry if my typing is bad but my daughter's bird bit my finger!!

Anyway, the first thing I would tell you is to discuss all your fears with your surgeon. He/she should be able to respond to your concerns. I am only one person out of many who has had issues with the band.

I believe as long as your band is not too tight you should eventually be able to eat bread, but I was not able to. But some are. Toasting it would make it easier.

The band is a restriction only device and it's restriction can fluctuate with people so that is something you would want to discuss with your surgeon.

I am almost 50 and have type 2 diabetes along with many other issues which make it difficult for me and probably just wasn't the right choice from the beginning. I had it for 14 months and tried but I really needed that malabsorption that the gastric bypass has and am having 6/11. Prior to my surgery we are required to go on a liquid protein diet shake diet for 4 weeks which helps you lose quicker but not necessarily the best test for follow up.

Anyway ask more questions of other bandsters possibly through lapbandtalk.com as you'll get more band advice there. Good luck and sorry I couldn't be more helpful Nancy.
