...the thread was started (or reposted actually) in response to someone who had not received ANY guidelines from their surgeon. Either that or they were lost. This person had been gaining weight as a result.

I did not, nor would I EVER say that I have THE one and only way. I have no way to know ALL guidelines in every program. TT is an internet support group, not a medical practice. I believe most people here are bright enough to know that.
