I didn't have much pain from the surgery. But, I took my pain meds faithfully until the drowsy effect they gave me was worse than any discomfort I still had. I then switched to tylenol.
The most discomfort I had was that each time I swallowed water I would have to burp and that did hurt my stomach. I finally read on here that some people take Gas X and I got the ok from my dr to take it and it has been fine ever since then.
I think the adjustment to learning how to eat differently - small sips or bites, eating slowly (by biggest challenge) learning which foods sit ok with me and which ones don't - has been the most difficult thing of this whole surgery.
