Update-LONG
I am not sure if any of the old people are still around and those who are even remember me. I used to be a regular way back when. I had lost 112 lbs and had a tummy tuck and breast lift. I have gained about 50 lbs. I am on the waiting list for the Rose procedure. I am tentantively scheduled for the end of the month or September. I know when I was here before there was some not-so nice responses to those who have gained (the tool didn't fail- you did mentality). I actually left the board due to feelings of failure.
The doctor is having me do an egd and will determine whether I will have the rose or the stomaphyx. My stoma is too large. The surgeon who did the original surgery was NOT a bariatric surgeon and while I would go to him for any other surgery I need, I am disappointed. My pouch was not made as small as the bariatric surgeons. I was sent to a nutritionist who did not know about bariatric diets (1 time before surgery and 1 after). There was no aftercare or support groups.
Not long after getting plastics I was put on a different anti-depressant. I started to gain. I asked to be switched and began to gain even more. I went off lexapro at the beginning of summer and went through an extremely long and hard withdrawal period. I am just now feeling somewhat normal (not crying constantly, nauseated, and unable to leave the house due to anxiety.) Since going off the meds I have not gained, but I haven't lost either. Anyway, I am hoping to be more active or at least a lurker to get where I need to be.

You won't get any slapping around from ME, not at all. You're not alone in regaining, not the first and won't be the last. I'd like to think there are many others here with compassion and support to give you.
It sounds like you got a raw deal with the issues around your surgery, and it sounds like you did one helluva job working with what you had! I think I know a little bit about how hard it was for you, in that I didn't have a nutritionist either nor postop support groups either. But I did not have the other issues, so my hat's off to your for succeeding in spite of those challenges.
I hope you get something better this time around, with the procedures you're looking at. You deserve it. I feel for you...and can only guess how you feel now after you went so far with losing and going through the recovery from plastics. Heartbreaking
On the forum you might want to look around, if you haven't already, for some posts from people who had Rose and/or Stomaphyx. I remember the face of someone...but can't recall her name. SusanPhotog maybe? I've been active here lately and haven't seen any recent posts from people who are getting or had either procedure. So I hope you're in touch with some people who are familiar with it? Does the surgeon have a group? Are you totally confident with THIS surgeon?
You're also not going to get any grief, from me at least, about medications and weight gain. Good to hear you've dealt with the horrid withdrawal and are now leveled out. Withdrawal is a f*cking NIGHTMARE. I hope you have good treatment for the depression now and are able to deal with that demon. It sounds like you ARE getting better....that's good.
My heart breaks for you because I could be you. And I know that all of us long-termers KNOW that in the back of our minds. Some of us fear it more than others I guess. MY fear is one reason I stay plugged in to the forum. There is DEFINITELY a place for you here...welcome back Ryndi.
EDIT: I'm a dork...I meant to say I too had gained/lost since hitting goal. I got up to 165 lbs. at highest regain, and I worked it off. I'm doing a "teeter time" right now, where it could get away from me, so I'm working on my own sh*t too!

RYN!!!!
I have been gone from TT off and on also. I have often thought about you. So glad you posted. Sorry to hear about the weight gain. I had some too... about 20lbs., but I have taken most of it back off. It is rough this far out. As a newbie up to about 18 months out from surgery I would have never thought it would be so easy to gain, but it really is. Keep in touch and we can help each other stay motivated!

I typed out a long reply and my computer shut down, lol. Just my luck. I don't have time to retype it all.
Pheonix thank you for the reply.
Cindy I think about you as well.

Hi Ryn.. I'm a relative newbie comparatively.. but I'm glad you are here and posting. I think those of us at the stage I am at need to hear from you all with more experience. It is important that we realize the pitfalls and having you here, telling us whats what is important!
I know you said you left due to the negativity but as I was just saying to someone else.. we'll need to drown out the negativity by posting the types of posts we want to see and reaching out to others the best we can. It's all any of us can do!
Please keep us up to date on how the rose procedure works for you.. there isn't a lot about that here on TT at this point in time.

Hey Ryn, good to see you again! Yep, there are a few of us "oldies" still around. You most certainly won't be getting negative comments from me. Only the support that all of us need.
It is possible to gain weight back after this surgery. There are physical and emotional reasons. This surgery isn't a "sure fix", even with a bariatric surgeon doing your surgery.
Emotionally many of us are food addicts and just having surgery most certainly doesn't change that. Also, when you throw in the fact that the stoma often enlarges we find that we once again are fighting with our bodies. It isn't that you don't want to keep the weight off. Sometimes medically our bodies are making it almost impossible. It happens. I've struggled with my own weight gain. Thankfully I've been able to take it off by getting back on track but I certainly don't rule out the fact that one day that may not be enough. It's okay to ask for help. People who look down on those who are battling weight regain are no different than those who were negative when we all made the decision to have weight loss surgery. You are reaching out for help from your doctor and from us and I applaud that.
So I hope you know that there are those here who want to help. Because we can't do this alone.
Welcome back.

Thanks Ladies!
There really isn't a whole lot of information out there on the Rose Procedure. There are like 3 people who have posted on obesity help and i searched on here, that I have found in my short time looking back. One person had positive results and the other 2 negative. I wont even know which procedure I am having until it's done. They do the egd at the same time so that insurance will cover anesthesia. There is a little more information on stomaphyx, but the dr seems to think I will have the Rose- your pouch has to be big enough to handle the tools, had I gone with him to begin with he probably would not be able to do it, he made his pouches small. I will be $5000 out of pocket, which if it works, is worth it.

Glad to see you back. I hope that this time around things are "done right". I think we all go thru the gain lose thing. It sucks! Is there anymore info you can tell us about what you are getting done? I'm just wondering what it is they are doing? Where will you be having it done at?
