Struggling...
Hi everyone, it's been a long time since I've been on here. I've become another statistic of people who gain weight back after the surgery. I'm back up to about 220 after getting down to about 180 over 2 years ago. Ever since I had my gallbladder out and changed around by birth control, my weight has just skyrocketed and I hate it. I'm trying really hard now to get back to where I was because I remember now how much I hate being FAT!
I personally think I had surgery too young. Now that I have been out of college and making decent money, I feel that I could have been more successful if I had waited.
Oh well, you live and you learn! I've started going to the gym during my lunch breaks at work and I'm hoping that it helps out. My metabolism is just horrible so I have to really watch what I'm eating. I'm trying to keep it to 1300 calories per day and exercise 4-5 times a week for 30-40 minutes.
It's good to see there are still people on this board! I could really use your support.

Hi Jen!
I remember you! It feel where you are coming from. The further out from surgery you get, the more you have to "diet". I remeber being a newbie thinking that I would never gain weight, because I didn't even like food or the way it tasted, etc. etc... but that all goes away and you become "normal" again, or more normal. I have gained and lost 15lbs. since my lowest point. It is a struggle every day, but I know I don't want to weigh 329lbs., so I still get on the scale even though I don't want to so that it reminds me to make better choices.
Good luck, keep coming back for support. I too have been away lately, but am trying check back in!

Thank you for the kind words! To me, it's all about getting my head straight because if I can't, I know I will fail ultimately. It's so hard to stay focused, but I need to be.
You look great!

Jen, damn, Im really sorry to hear about your situation. I haven't heard of one on here yet and I feel for you... Its definitely my biggest fear. But looks liek you have a good attitude... get u and get to working it again!!! work it, work it, work it! Im sure its got to be harder now that your pouch isn't aat square one, but I'm guessing you still eat less than the "average" person, so perhaps thatll help you out. As you know, this is a great support forum, so we'll be here to push you along! good luck!

You can do it!! From the sounds of things, with or without a pouch, you're doing the right things to lose weight. You'll get there.

Hi Jen, glad to see you here. Its something that I am always scared of is gaining weight back and many times I have to wonder if my tool is still there. Its still a head game and you can beat it. Walking on your lunch will help.
I am curious, how do you think you gained back the weight? Do you feel the pouch is still working or maybe its not intact as it could be. Just wondering as I feel your pain and hugs to you.

Hey, just wanted to say I can't imagine how hard/insurmountable it must feel to be in your situation, but I think you can do it. Your post sounds positive, you are back here looking for the support. I just wanted to wish you well and thanks for sharing.

Maybe you should try the 5 day pouch test to get yourself back on track. I know I need to. Not because I've gained but because I want to lose some more weight. It's hard to get back on track sometimes I know but you can do it.

I honestly think it was "dieting" again that got me back to where I am. I had gotten down to 180 which is a good weight for me, and then I had my gallbladder taken out and I can suddenly eat things again. I held at 180 though for a while after that and then I decided to try weight watchers points to help me stay on track and I failed at it and put on some weight. Then I held up at the low 190's for awhile and stopped my birth control for a month or two and actually gained another 10 pounds! So I sat in the low 200's for a while. Then I went back on B.C. and put on 8-10 pounds! Then I tried "dieting" again and ended up where I am now. It's crazy how it happens. I think a combo of bad choices and short stints of dieting then falling off the wagon has gotten me back to here. I did drink beer for a little while because of stress at work and that sure didn't help AT ALL!!! Fast food doesn't help either....
I'm pretty focused now and realize how stupid I was to get back to this point. It's just REALLY hard!

I did the pouch test and did pretty well on it, but it made me so tired and I ended up eating more after I was done. It's more of a mind thing for me, If my head isn't in it, I won't succeed.
Thank you for all the great encouragements everyone! I'm still glad to be still down 35-40 pounds from my highest, but want to get back way down!

Stress eating or drinking? Bummer! Form a new addiction - try Crystal Light in water - that's a staple. I also got Sugar Free DaVinci carmel coffee flavor at Wal-Mart - have a good cup of coffee - it feels almost like food when I'm tired, bored, etc.
Also SF popcycles - I practically live on them when I just HAVE to have something sweet.
Lots and lots of protein - try spicy foods, lots of variety.
We'll bug you often to see what you are eating!!!!!
