So sorry to hear of your struggles Jen. It's something that I think all of us long-termers go through to some degree. I regained about 12lbs a year ago and it freaked me out - I still worry daily that I'm getting 'fatter' even though the scales are staying within the same 2lbs.

I hope the pouch test works for you - would love to hear how you get on.

xx

Default OMG! Yeah it's been a long time! But a fun ride...

Yes, being further out in this wonderful journey has been an incredibele ride. I've gained back 20 pounds from my lowest, and am absolutely great with that. The reason is, I got down to a weight that was unrealistic (size 0) and because of the others before me (great wisdom of knowledge, you know who you are) I knew that this was possible and an expected outcome. Your body will adjust going forward.

I must say that every day is a struggle. I must watch what I take in versus what I put out in energy (read as excersise). It really does work! This did not work for me prior to GBS. Follow the program, follow your dreams, follow your heart!

I wish you all the best of what life can give you! You are in a good place, keep on keepin' on!

Talking Another Long Termer Checking in

Hey lil mama Im sorry to hear of your struggle.

Im at 5 years now and getting scared? Why? Maintenance is hard, pretty damn hard.
I am up 9 pounds and weighing 181 right now and Ive been trying to get to 170-175 for 6 months now. The good news is I have stayed at that weight for that amount of time, the bad news is I have been making subtle changes in my diet and its not going down.

So here is what I am doing NOW. Dont eat anything that tastes sweet, including beets, carrots and corn oh and fruit. Do not eat anything made with flour. Drink 72 oz of decaf fluid every day and the weightloss will happen despite hitting the gym.

I will check in every now and again to see how things are working for you, we can try andsupport each other through struggling and losing, afterall we are sisters

You up for a lil friendly competition and seeing who can losr 10 pounds first? Talk to ya soon sugar pea!

You got that right. I've always been able to lose weight, but to maintain that? Yea right!

I'm at the point right now where I really just need to buckle down and do it. There are no ifs ands or buts. I don't want to end up with diabetes like my Mom.

Thanks again for all the support. I failed at the 5 day pouch test this weekend because we went out and stuff, but I'm on it today and doing well so far, but it's only the morning! This time I'm in for the ride.

The beauty of this forum is that there are real lessons to be learned.

Maintenance is VERY hard. It requires the same kind of food/fluid focus as when we were early in the game. It requires tools to help us, whether they be mental (the games we play) or physical (scales, small plates, pouch).

It's difficult when life is wonderful, it's difficult when the circumstances of life suck - it's just plain difficult.

But there are no other options that I can see.

I want to recommend a book, called "Half Assed." Yep, that's what it's called. It's by Jennette Fulda. It's a memoir. It isn't how she lost the weight that is intriguing - it's her spin on maintaining her weight loss. It helped me. It's a tool. I have read the book, particularly the last third of it, several times. Very insightful at the stage of the game we are in - those of us who are long-time post oppers.

Hello everyone! I'm happy to report that I'm in day 3 of the pouch test and doing GREAT! My mind is truly in this. I'm already down 2 pounds which is great to see and I even had the energy last night to go out for a bike ride.

Also, I never realized how great scrambled eggs in the microwave can come out. They tend to stick to the pan too much when I cook them on the stove.

I'm not sure that I get full faster yet, but I feel like I'm craving food less and less. I was down another full pound this morning so I'm getting excited! My clothes are also getting looser which is weird because I didn't know 3 pounds could do that.
