Default my post op 5 yrs

I am 26/yo male and had gastric bypass done when i was 21 or so. I was at 352 lbs and went to as low as 194lbs, 4-5 yrs later im sitting at 245-250. With that being said I haven't been to the hospital for any complications since. I do have a problem with my belly button discharge but I dont know if its due to excess skin or if I might of pulled something or ate too much, I was just posting to see if anyone else has had these complications as well. I eat and drink just like I did before the WLS but not as much I can eat a full hamburger but instead of eating it in 1 sitting it might take an hr or 2 to finish. I can drink sodas and regular drinks during meals although I was told your not supposed to. Being my age I still drink alcohol and beer just I know my limitations. No jagermeister and no tequila. I do have burning feeling in my stomach alot after I eat im guessing that might be ulcers from all the other post's ive been reading. I would love to have a tummy tuck but I was told you would need a doctor's word saying that you are having health issues due to your excess skin and wondering if this is true.

Go back to the basic rules. I don't know what rules you had when you had the surgery. Your pouch still works. Just have to get back at it. Don't drink for 30 minutes before or after your meals and don't drink with meals. Stop taking 1 hr to 2 hrs to eat your meal. Eat slowly and finish in 30 minutes. My surgeon says 3 meals and no snacks. Others say they have snacks. But just be sure to eat small planned snacks. If I were to eat half a hamburger, I wouldn't be hungry again until the next meal..no snack. If you are used to eating the whole hamburger, this will take some will power on your part but you can do it. My husband had surgery 13 yrs ago. He had done the same as you and had gained back about 75 of his lbs. He got back to basics and has lost 50 of them already. At first it was work to cut back the portions. But now he can't eat as much any more and is doing great. The pouch still works as you already know. Good luck!

I need to get back the basics too. I will be 4 years out this summer. I was 341 the morning of my surgery and 6 months later I plateaued at about 215. For about the past 3 years I have been eating whatever I want and whenever I want. I maintained pretty good until the past 6 months or so. I am back up to about 235. I have always struggled with the no drinking 30 minutes before or after and of course during. According to an Upper GI that I had done a month or so ago my pouch is still 4cm so if I can control my eating and drinking I should be able to do it. I just need to get that control again.
