Nyn is on a distinguished road

Well, I am well over a year out now, so I eat very normally. I drink coffee again (I quit for approx 6 months around my surgery) and have some almost every morning with milk and Splenda on my drive to work. I often have a piece of fruit or cheese in the morning, too. I don't usually eat much breakfast as my pouch doesn't like food until around 10am. On days off of work, I'll usually wait to eat until brunchtime, just having a cup of tea after waking. For example, the other day I woke up late (holiday!) and was having a "hungry day" so I had one and a half eggs (I threw the rest of the second one away), half an english muffin, a sausage link, and a few bites of hashbrowns. For lunch my usual is to eat about 3/4 of a Lean Cuisine meal, usually chicken of some kind. Today was Lemongrass Chicken, one of my favorites! Sometimes I have half a turkey or tuna sandwich (tearing off some bread, but I do eat the rest!).

In the last few months, I've needed some sort of snack in the afternoons to avoid light-headedness (I don't get home until 8pm usually, so dinner is a long time from lunch) so I've been having somethign like a piece of fruit, a cheese stick, part of a Kashi bar, or even sometimes a handful of the dreaded crackers (Cheez-its almost always!).

In the evenings my dinner varies quite a bit since I hate eating the same thing every day. Often I will heat up some Trader Joe's curry sauce with frozen veggies and a small handful of nuts and pour it over shrimp. Sometimes I dip chicken breast strips in sweet & sour sauce. Sometimes I eat soup or salad, both of which are some of my favorite things in the world. To finish my day, I will have a protein drink or a glass of milk, depending on how I feel I've done for the day protein-wise and calorie-wise.

I will also freely admit to the occasional glass of wine in the evenings or on weekends. But never when I have to drive somewhere, of course!

My pouch is pretty tolerant, as long as I follow most of the rules, don't have too much bread or pasta, and eat slowly enough. My biggest challenge has been keeping hydrated. I keep water bottles in my car, a pitcher on my desk, and bottles in every room of my house, but I still don't always get enough water. Something for me to keep working on!
