This is the way I look at it:
If your sister had a dog and was abusing the dog daily, would it make you abuse a dog if you were to go get one.
NO WAY.
It shows you just how not to be with with your dog. In fact you would treat your dog right and do it in front of your sister in the hopes it might rub off on her.
I know this is a crude metaphor, but it works for me.
This is exactly my thought process with children. I see so many people treat their kids wrong, I have a book in my head of what I'll never do to my kids when I have them.
