My advice is to first kick your sister in the butt and get her on the right track, or she won't be around long enough to see how well you do.

After you do that, relax. Just follow your doctor's instructions, and what your own body tells you. If it makes you puke, don't eat it. If it makes you feel bad, don't eat it.

Make sure to take your vitamins, and exercise. Also, make sure to dring PLENTY of water.

Only you know if you will have the control to do this. If you are even a shadow of a doubt unsure, perhaps you should postpone your surgery.

There is no reason to spend 30-60k of your insurance's or your own money, go through major surgery, and make yourself miserable if you think there is a chance you won't stick to the plan.

Not covered by insurance. How nice, they will pay for the symptoms...but not the cure for my disease.
