I can guarantee that Kansas is totally different than San Diego. People are a lot more laid back, a totally different species than in CA. People in CA are generally more health and environmentally conscience...those movements haven't hit here. There are seasons, the winters and summers can be brutal, but I've grown up in Ottawa area, so it's all I really know. Family is very important, so if you have a lot of family there, the pay-off would be worth it. If a big change is what you need, this would certainly be it! Is there a way you could take several weeks to a month off work so that you could visit long enough to know if it would fit into your lifestyle? I think people in the Midwest are the most friendly anywhere.
