Welcome aboard.
I do not think that your age will be a huge factor as far as surgery is concerned.I do however think that you may want to check out the Duodenal Switch as well as the RNY.There are a few reasons. With the DS you will still be able to eat high fat and many of the foods you eat now still low carb of course. You do not absorb 80% of the fat that you eat so you can typically eat more as you get further out from your surgery and less chance of regain. These are actually some of the reasons I chose the DS.Also RNY - Diabetes 85% cure rate RNY can put diabetes in remission.
Diabetes may come back in two or three years--even if the patient maintains most of their weight loss.Even a small amount of weight gain, long-term, can cause a diabetes relapse. DS – Diabetes 98 % cure rate for type II diabetes.Of course YOU have to do all of your research and decide which surgery is right for YOU but some of the things you said just sounded so much like me that I thought I would give you a little info.Welcome to TT!
