How soon did you get active again? I don't want to overdo it, but I don't want to simply lay around. I did walk about 10 minutes yesterday morning before they discharged me. How soon did you "go out" again?

Other than 'sugar free' lozenges (get them approved), are you allowed to take showers (I know that most doc's nix baths for a bit).
A nice steaming shower will help your throat relax and your muscles relax, etc., You don't have to wash, just let the water run down your back (or front). Have some water run on your throat, too.
You can use a steaming washcloth on your throat as well which will help with the throat muscles.
DRINK: Crystal light tea and raspberry tea is pretty good heated up (but not too hot). Add some CL lemon to the tea for a more tart lemon tea.
Your throat will feel better in no time.
I once had a breathing tube down my throat and was in ICU for 4 days with my mouth taped shut... seems I couldn't breath on my own. Anyway, I spent a month in the hospital after that, and a lot of that time NPO (no food or liquid). After 3 weeks, I sneaked in 'sugar free' lemon mint Riccola because the stuff they gave me was horrible, and I couldn't stand how my throat felt anymore. After I started on the Riccola, I slept better, though my throat healing actually took about 2 months.
After my recent RNY, I had my doc approved Riccola ready!
Feel better!
