Red face Needing a Revision

Had an endoscopy back in November 2009 where my surgeon found that my outlet had stretched due to an ulcer and eroded the suture line While it means that I can now eat meat it also means that food stays in my pouch for a very short time making me hungry again within a short space in time and I am eating more than I should be. This is not good when in USA with all you can eat buffets.

My GP approached the PCT for funding which I got within 2 weeks and now just awaiting a date for the revision. Hopefully it will be soon as I don't want to put on anymore weight and still need to lose another 12st to get to goal weight.

Best of luck, but first congrats on your remarkable weight loss so far. I think that needs to be commended as your starting weight was such that you really needed a strong resolve to tackle it. I applaud you, sincerely. Not that 75 or 100 pounds is anything to sneeze at, but your journey is more involved and I think it should be commended! I hope you get all the medical help you need to finish your journey.

Thank you very much. I have to admit that although I have lost a huge amount it doesn't feel that way to me, I think because I see so many people who have had a bypass get to their goal weight within the first year. Fair enough they have had a lot less to lose but it still get depressing that I am still fat.

We have been shopping to various malls here but of course there is virtually nothing for me. I have eventually found a Lane Bryant and found them very helpful but so far nowhere else. If I was a 'normal' size already I woould be able to shop.

so glad ur doc is on top of things too. I am two years two months out and never made goal, i have actually put on 10 to 12 pounds the past 2 months, so I feel for ya. I started at 357 made it to 243 and now back to 255. I need to get my head back together too though before I start thinking about other surgeries. good luck sweetie

I have started to gain weight, I am so hungry all the time and just eat.
Only consolation is that I can eat meat now.

All the funding is in place for my revision but have to wait for a date for surgery

Unhappy Same with me!!

Boy do I know how you feel! I am 2 years out and still not to my goal

I too am hungry all the time..luckily I eat like I should, no sugar lots of water and protine. But I have started to gain

Is there anything the doctor can do? Is there a surgery to make the stomach smaller again? I have 30 lbs to lose so will a surgeon help me?

Boy do I need you, my family help!!

Dawn gastric bypass February 2008.

Lou,
The first thing I have to say is a hUGE congrats to you for your tenacious fight to health. I am SO impressed by your commitment!

As far as your issues with food shooting down the ski jump into your small intestines, (sorry, I guess I've been watching too much Olympics...) there is a treament? procedure? substance? referred to as STOMA FIX. They swab your outlet with this stuff, and as it is applied it starts to harden, narrowing your gastric outlet. Do a search on this forum regarding it, and it sounded like a good fix.

Another thing to consider is that this is sort of a peek into life without 'rules.'
Just remember it's simple math--calories in, calories used. Stop me if you know this--most of us have. 3500 calories=1lb. If you want to lose 1lb a week, eat (or burn) 500 less calories per day. Want to lose more? It's a simple mathmatical equation. Just remember that YOU and YOU ALONE control your process, and you have done a stellar job of it so far--no reason for it to come to a screeching halt now!

Take good care of you, respect yourself, and keep fighting the good fight. And maybe start putting some money aside for the skin removal operation(s) you will need and want. You will be amazed at how much easier it is to navigate the weird, rude, ignorant society we have been born into. I think you are doing really well, and once you are healed from your revision there will be no stopping you!
With warmth and respect,
Donna

I'm not at goal either and I'm coming up on 2 years at the end of April. I stalled last August at 196 and have fluctuated between 196 and 199 ever since.

I joined a gym, I've dramatically increased my activity level and exercise. I journal everything, drink all my water, eat protein first and very little carbs with a eating schedule all day, and the scale still isn't going down.

The only thing that's changed is my medication (hypothyroid) and I've been thinking that could be it. My next PCP appt, which is in April, I'm going to address this, but I doubt very much if this med would be increased to the level it was before.

So now I have to lose my next 30+ pounds the old fashioned way, but the old fashioned way isn't working. I'm at a loss as to what else to do, so I'm just doing the program, but more intensely. The numbers aren't changing but my clothes are fitting better, and parts of me seem to be getting sculpted.

Heck, it's better than gaining, though. I sure wish I was at 170 or less.... still trying, maybe even forever trying. Maybe that wishful tummy tuck will ultimately do the trick? ((( dreaming )))

Starting BMI: 60.4 / Current BMI: 33.6

Nearly 16 TEN pound bowling balls down... OMG, let me pinch myself!

I don't want to know how much I have left to lose -- I find it encouraging to see how far I've come!
