Hi Maline, I appreciate your post and sharing with us. It is a chore to eat when I'm not hungry. That is what is giving me the issue. What is crazy is my pouch can tolerate anything with sugar. It gives me more trouble with sugar alcohols and artificial sweeteners. So, I guess if I were hungry, it could be dangerous! I would have the same problem as before surgery and be able to eat everything, just smaller portions.

I have to say that your statistics are AMAZING! Great job you have done! What a difference.

Same here. If I get busy at work and skip a meal (lunch), my pouch gets a little annoyed with me.

I wish I was still that way. The first two years, I had to set alarms in my calendar to remind myself to eat. And I couldn't eat enough in 3 meals to get in enough protein and calories so I had to forced myself to eat snacks to. 3 meals and 2-3 snacks a day. None of which I was hungry for, but ate anyway to get everything in. THEN shortly after my 2 year anniversary, my appetite came back. Now it comes and goes, but with it the "head hunger" came back to. So now, I'm able to eat more and I'm hungry. But I'm still in the habit of eating meals and snacks, which I should cut out or down. But from 2 years of making myself do it, its now and ingrained habit. I now weigh about 10 pounds over my lowest average. I'm working on trying to get those 10 pounds off, but habits are hard to break.

Hunger. I feel it almost constantly. Within a short period after eating to satisfaction, I am hungry again. Not the head hunger, either.. but the full on tummy grumbling hunger.

I allow only four small meals a day.. they are planned meals and I eat by that, with the exception of if my blood sugar drops low- which I do have more instances of low blood sugar the further I'm out from surgery but still not THAT often.. maybe once a month or so?

I just keep drinking, drinking, drinking till it is time for whatever meal is scheduled next.

I don't know which is worse.. eating by the clock cuz you're not hungry or forcing yourself to wait to eat by the clock cuz otherwise you'd eat all damn day (and be back up to 300+ lbs)

Question Feeling Full Question

Hi, Trina,
I'm kinda new here so I am curious about your dilema...I too feel like you, much of the time. I am only six weeks out of my RNY and am having a hard time with meats, etc. My pouch rumbles at the outset of the first bite of anything, my nutritionist told me to eat past that feeling so that the pouch could get used to solids better. Even though the thought of eating and eating itself makes me nauseous, I still push through it.

My question for you is: what do you actually eat? I know what the recommendations are, but what does that equal to in your menus? I am wondering if there are other things that I could add to my menus to expand the choices since I too am eating the same things over and over again to make sure I don't get sick. I find that I can eat a little more than the recommended 3-4 ounces, at my stage, if it is brothy or soupy, can you too?

I hope that your grouchy pouchie starts co-operating with you soon

Here is a good thread for ideas of what people are eating at different stages: What Did You Eat Yesterday (or today)?.
