I'm curious to know what was the most weight others have lost while under other weight lost measures before deciding to have WLS, such as diet and/or exercise, liposuction, etc.
Myself, I went on the Atkins diet 2 yrs ago this July. I combined the low-carb diet with the hiring of a personal trainer and daily 1-2 hours of exercise at the gym. I went from 341 lbs to 245 lbs in 5 months. I averaged approx. 20 lbs/mo. It was a lifestyle change that when I slipped, it totally changed in the other direction. I gained all my weight back with an additional 15-20 lbs in about the same time it took me to lose it. I felt like all that work went down the drain. But I'm finding out the same with WLS, from my research and talking with different people, I've found that the weight can come back on just as fast as you've lost it, and then some. So I guess it's true to say that any measure of weight lost has to be maintained with diet and exercise or some sort of lifestyle change. Correct?
What's the most that you've lost and how did you do it?
