I was only in hospital for two nights and neither were good for sleeping.

I didn't get out of surgery until just gone 6.00 p.m. so by the time I got to my room, it was pretty late.

So - what with the med machine beeping what seemed like every half an hour because something had run out and then the nurses coming in to do the BP, temp etc. etc., I got little sleep the first night.

2nd night wasn't much better cause I didn't have my catheter out until early evening and I desperately wanted to go to the toilet but I couldn't. The nurses encouraged me to keep walking and keep sipping water. At 2.00 p.m. I still hadn't wee'd so they came and took a blood sample and threatened me that if I didn't go within the next hour, I'd have to be catheterized. That worked!

I've never been so glad to see my own bed as I was at lunchtime that day. I slept like a baby for 6 hours.
