Don't throw in the towel yet! Healing completely takes a good 5 to 6 weeks--which is why we have a diet progression so that we don't FORCE the stoma open. Liquids ain't gonna do it--but they do go right through you, which for some, may result in real hunger. I don't think you're doing any damage with the full liquids. I started them 5 days after I left the hospital. My doctor's progression was quicker that what yours seems to be. You probably could start some soft foods in a few more days, just being careful to chew it up very well.
The best thing to do is talk to your doc, like you said you were going to next week. Don't fret, though, there's a good percentage of folks on here that started the exact same way you are and went on to lose hundreds of pounds.
You're all good. It just might take a little time to realize it fully!
