I echo what MdGrandma said. I was in and out in two days -- I did put on my own robe after the shower my last day, but then changed into my going-home clothes almost immediately.

Because you'll be dragging a pole with IV and whatnot attached, it'll be difficult to put your arm into a robe or nightie anyway. (It can be done, but it's sort of a magic trick!)

I had lap RNY the same day as MdGrandma, and although a couple of the laproscope sites are right at waist level, my elastic-waisted jammies I wore the first night home didn't bother me at all, and haven't since -- except that the lap sites have this surgical tape on them which itches, and I have to wait for it to fall off on its own!
