Just had my surgery last week, and if your stay was as short as mine, don't bother with either. I had surgery Tuesday and went home Thursday. On Tuesday I didn't really care what I wore, the drugs were taking care of me. On Wednesday, it was easier to wear the hospital gown with my own bathrobe over top for walks down the hall. Plus you still have at least an IV in so hard to pull anything over the tubes. Then on Thursday I got up, into the shower and into my "going home" clothes. I had some loose jogging pants and a loose shirt. My doctor gives us a binder (kind of a girdle) to wear so I had a soft t-shirt to put under it. My incision was high enough that the waistband didn't bother, and the waist was loose enough that the bloating from gas wasn't uncomfortable. Save your comfy jammies and gowns for when you get home and want to look nice for your visitors. Best of luck in your surgery, you'll do fine.
