Cassie are you wondering about a hernia or an ulcer? I haven't had either but I know the general signs for an ulcer are nausea, occasionally a burning feeling at the pouch, increased difficulty eating and it is usually diagnosed by a doctor doing a scope or some type of upper GI x-rays.

The hernia? Well some people have those even before the surgery and the doctor repairs it during the surgery. I can't say that I've heard of anyone developing a new one only 2 weeks postop. Usually that is something found later and it is found basicly by physical exam...the doctor feeling around your abdomen. What someone might feel or see on their own would be a bulge of some sort usually down near the belly button is the most common location.

Now right sided pain is sometimes associated with gallbladder problems but that is usually a really intense right sided pain just up under your ribs and often radiating into your middle back.

It sounds to me that what you may be experiencing is more just a surgical pain from the surgery yet. Most people will feel that pain more on the left because that is where the doctor does most of the manipulation of instruments for the surgery but I suspect the same kind of pain can also happen on the right since they do put a scope on that side too.

If the pain concerns you though, increases in intensity or duration call your doctor and let him/her know about it. Its always the safer practice to call if you are having unusual pain or increased problems eating.

Hope that wasn't too technical for you. I'm a nurse and I know that sometimes I talk over people's head. Hope you understood.
