I feel kind of lucky about that.. Doc wanted me to lose between 10 & 15 lbs.. I lost 11.. I was allowed 1 meal a day, and I did *not* have to drink that nasty drink that so many have to drink.. thank GOODNESS...

Well, I won't get my hopes up for the 1 small meal then, lol. When you say nasty drink, do you mean the stuff in the green bottle that makes you poop? I thought that was necessary to clean all of the poop out of your intestines so it wouldn't fall out while they're operating on you. Otherwise, you'd be full of sh*t, lol.

Hi Karen. My surgeon doesn't require a specific weight loss (but you can't gain), but I have lost 19 lbs so far. My pre-op appt is May 19, exactly 13 days before my surgery, so I'll find out for sure then about the pre-op diet and what it involves. I just thought I'd find out some more info now, so I could go ahead and do my grocery shopping for it. I'm 99% sure that I'm going to have to do it, because when I had an appointment with the surgeon 1/2 way through my 6 month plan, I asked about it and he said he does require it of his patients. (I had thought I might get lucky and not have to do it quite as long since my BMI is "only" 42.3) My surgeon is very involved in research, and was telling me that one of his recent studies was the role of the pre-op diet and what useful part it actually plays in the WLS process. So, since I'm a human research "rat", I know I'll definitely have to do the pre-op diet, lol.
