It's a little more, but I like the features, and I like the Sage Green color--sure, it's not the bright orange I was looking for in the Fit, but I also like the red and the blue as well. I'm losing favor with the Toyota, because I just think it's too low to the ground, the Fit is up a little more, and the Tucson seems to SUV height. I'm still hinging on the gas mileage and being able to get into the back seat without hitting high notes or sitting on my junk. I just need to drive a few and see how they feel. Honestly, if I can find a decent stereo system with wheels in a bright color with good gas mileage and not a sedan look--I'm good to go. (I don't want much, do I?)

I don't care how it handles in the snow. If it's that bad out...I'll call in sick!

When we got our Elantra last year, we looked at the Tucsons too and really liked them. We decided on the Elantra though because of the cheaper price and the better gas mileage....and since it's our 3rd car, I felt the need to economize (although it really doesn't feel like an economy car).

If you like the Tucsons, check out the Kia equivalent...I forget the name. Kia is now owned by Hyundai, so it's basically the same vehicle, but a tad cheaper. They have a funky bright blue color that you might like.

I saw a Honda Fit "in person" today....the first time that I had ever noticed one. Geez, they are small little buggers, but cute.

I'm lol at your qualifications for a vehicle. As a woman, I hadn't thought about some of those! My kid is a teenager now, but I can't say that I worried too much about the comfort of the back seat, and how it pertained to me when he was younger. Honestly, I never got back there with him. I plopped him in the car seat (from outside), buckled him in, and drove. By the time he was 1 year old, he was climbing into the car seat himself, and trying to buckle himself in. Most of the time I had 2 door cars, and it still worked out easy. So, it was always pretty much a non-issue with me, even on road trips.

Have fun with the car shopping. Here's a good government website to compare fuel economy: Find a Car
