He is saying that with all muscle wall repair, that things will be so tight that it will be very difficult to breath for a while. He is hoping a day or two sedated will be easier on me than dealing with all the pain while trying to breathe and the possibility of respiratory arrest.

Enough about me. I hope today finds you well and focused on your healing. Beth I am so impressed with your knowledge and on tireless support of others.

May God continue to bless you and yours.

Oh, thank you Dave. I'm doing much better today. I took Vicodan last night and something for the nausea and I slept like a rock. I didn't wake up until the alarm went off at 6:30 to get my daughter off to school. I drank a protein shake and then went right back to bed and slept several more hours. I'm not nauseated at all today so it looks as if it will be a much better day.

I am a nurse with 31 years in critical care, so even though I do burns I often work the adult critical care unit too. Thus, the greater knowledge base. . Your explaination makes total sense to me and really does sound like the best route for you with your plastic surgery. I'm sure the idea of a vent is scary. It would scare me too, but know they keep you pretty sedated so your body can rest and work with the machine. There are wonderful drugs out there to help you through it. Often patients will be on 2 different kinds of continous IV meds. One for pain and the other for sedation. Usually the nurses are able to regulate those dosages, to a point, in order to keep the patient comfortable. I'm glad to hear that your doctor is explaining things well to you. Personally I feel that is the sign of a good doctor...someone you can trust.

Thanks again for the kind words. I'm taking care of myself and allowing myself to heal...promise.
