Default Date, Dilemma and Pre Op Diet...

Well finally I have a date for RNY bypass. 4th June, I should be ecstatic and initially I was.
My dilemma at the moment is should I have it now.
Why...
I have been given a pre op diet. I have 5 weeks to my date of operation. The pre op diet consists of soup and yoghurt (I am sure you all know the one). I expected it and counted the days til I got it, because then I knew I was really on my way! However...
I am one of my surgeon's smallest patients. A very deceivable 111k and most people I read about have had only approx 2 weeks on this liquid diet. I am at a loss to know why I have been given it 5 weeks and counting. So far I have done one day. Because I feel 5 weeks is drastic, I wonder will I now cope when I can't eat for another few weeks post op. Is my will strong enough. I have eaten, slept and breathed this coming surgery for months until now. I feel such a failure, because one day out and I am moaning I have so many weeks to go compared to others.

I appreciate I will have to be on this but I can't get my head around 5 weeks of it. One because I am half the size of most of his patients, and two why have they initially been given a 2 week no carb diet and then 2 week liquids. Why is it different for me? Yes I did ask the pre assessment nurse, and was told it's because I carry my weight around the middle. Well I think a lot of people do. So before I even start this journey I am moaning and feeling sorry for myself. In my head I was quite prepared for 14 days of liquid until I heard I have 5 weeks of it. I can feel me sliding off the wagon before I have begun properly.

So can anyone tell me what is roughly the average time they have been given this liquid diet for? Or am I just being over reactive? Either way, I feel a bit better just for writing it down. Several girls tell me, just go on the no carbs for 2 weeks and then do 3 of liquids. I just don't want to jeapordise this surgery.
Would be grateful for your views.
