Suzanne and went to the PS today and found out he is recommending the feur de lis. It is an up side down "T" cut. Sternum to pelvic bone and hip to hip.
He says I will have two large hernia repairs with muscle work done. He is removing all existing scares from the 4 previous surgeries. They will relocate the iliostomy and forget about the navel. I will not be in any beauty contest with my bag hanging off my tummy anyway.
He said I would be in the ICU for 1 to 2 days to help with breathing and then a few days in the hospital after that. He is saying that it is the most difficult surgery I have had. I really was not ready for that. I just thought of it as a final clean up procedure. I have to admit he spoked me a little.
I will have my other surgeon assisting him to relocate the ostomy. he said a total of about 7 to 10 hours. Then he said I would have some smaller procedures latter in the year for clean up he did not elaborate on what they would be .
No time line yet but I got things rolling. we will see when they can schedule the room for a Monday that they are both available, and run this whole thing by the insurance co. I am hoping with all of the complications from previous surgeries they will cover this..
I just needed to share I guess, nerves, and a little of fear. you guys are a great sounding board and comments very welcome...
Let's rock and Roll....
