Anyone run a marathon post surgery?
I'm considering training for a couple of marathons later this year with the hopes that I can run fast enough to qualify for the Boston Marathon next year (need to run sub 3 hours 15 minutes in one of the qualifying marathons to qualify at my age - 7:45 minute miles). I'm able to run a 5k at 7:45 average now so I'm thinking that after 6 months of training with a team, I may be able to do it!
I wanted to know if anyone has completed a marathon post surgery?
Also, if anyone can tell me how the surgery effects your glycogen levels, taking gels and other nutrition during long runs and any other advice, I would greatly appreciate it.
FYI - I seem to be able to use GU with all the positive effects and little to no apparent negative effects of dumping 100 calaries of sugur down your throat while running (no dumping or complete loss of energy).
