Hi there. My name is Georgia and I am so ready for this surgery to be over. On the other hand I know I have a lot of issues to work on first. I have attended my information meeting, consult with surgeon and nutritionist, am 4 lbs from my pre op goal weight and have several required tests coming up in the next two weeks - in addition to my second psych eval.
I'm finding it a challenge however to really follow my eating plan, making sure I eat enough protein at each meal, esp. breakfast and lunch. I also keep getting ahead of myself and try to make the leap from being fat to being a thin(ner) person. It is mind boggling to imagine that I might actually be skinny some day and I wonder how that will feel. It seems like I will be a completely different person in many ways. Anyway, I am anxious for my next psych eval and want to schedule some one-on-one therapy with an eating disorder specialist.

One major question I have - has any one here gone through major stomach surgery in the past? I had a fundoplication about 10 years ago - along with a haital hernia and something else that escapes me at the moment. It was one lap surgery that ended up taking 5.5 hours - my stomach was basically rearranged and the valve that keeps acid in your stomach and out of your esophagus was not functioning and was replaced by wrapping stomach muscle around itself to create a new valve that would stay closed and keep acid from backing up. Anyway, long story short, the surgeon is somewhat concerned in that risks of complications are higher. I'm concerned because they will completely undo what was done previously and put everything back the way it was so that they can perform the RNY. So far I have not found any postings from people who may have had this done that are now having or have had the RNY. If anyone else is or has been in the same situation, I would love to hear from you.
thanks
