I had my buddy with me for the first educational meeting and the dietary one but he couldn't make it to the pre-op support meeting. I think it is OK if your buddy can't make one meeting. The only meeting we had to rsvp for was the very first educational one.
When I had my consult with the surgeon I didn't even talk to him. I met Ninette and Kelly and that was it. Both of them were very professional and welcoming in my opinion. I am sorry you had a different feel.
