Wholegrain pasta and brown rice is a better option but in honesty, I'd recommend you really limit the stuff.
I was cleared at 4 weeks to have pasta and rice but it was explained to me that at that stage, protein had to come first followed by well cooked vegetables.
You are at a vital stage in your WLS programme. This is where you are laying down the foundation for your future eating habits and to start eating much in the way of rice and pasta now makes it harder to limit it down the road when you're able to eat a bigger amount of food.
I'm glad I followed that advice - rice and pasta has always been a passion for me and it would have been easy to load up on it at the expense of the protein.
