One of the problems I had with doing OA in the past was that sobriety was so difficult for me to clearly define.. one of the BIG long term plusses to having this surgery is that sobriety is clear as a bell and the work that comes after beginning to abstain is clearer because yes or no I am following the plan that I have...
Alcoholics have to live in a society with alcohol everywhere... I'm sure to an extent so do other addicts (ie: nicotine etc) and no matter what there is the tendency of people with addictions to replace it (as discussed elsewhere) so we have to do the work of addressing what led to our addiction in order to overcome.. which has less to do with the food in the house than with the white and grey matter in our skulls..
