Don't stock up on stuff! First, you will be shocked by how little you can consume. And, things you think will taste good, they won't post surgery.

I don't know of anyone on here who has mentioned counting calories. If you eat only the protein you are supposed to, the calories take care of themselves. Your nutritionist should give you some guidelines for sugar counting. Just get something with as few as possible. I've been drinking Isopure Alpine Punch which is 20 ounces and has 40 g of protein. It is pretty good. I also tried Muscle Milk yesterday. It was an 8.5 ounce container and had 20 g of protein. It was one of the better shakes I have tasted. I also drink the New Whey vials, which are 3.1 ounces and have 42 g of protein. Those are my three favorite protein drinks. Check your GNC or Viamin Shoppe for these products.

For immediately post op, I would recommend you find some good tasting soup. Strain out the veges, meats, stuff, and drink the broth. You have to drink a lot of stuff and so many options are sweet that I found soup broth to be delicious. Regular canned broth tastes very salty, and I wouldn't recommend it.

Good luck with your surgery!
